The Story

A Fated Beginning

What is fate? Is it a goal you work towards, where you thank the heavens when it finally manifests? Or is it a change? A ripple from means unknown that blurs the path ahead, and sets your sight on something new? For Momo Tachibana, it was both.

Momo’s every-day life was transformed the day a pink monkey fell from the sky, into her outstretched arms. Being fifteen, and beginning to feel the weight of adulthood, Momo had made a wish on a shooting star to keep her childhood friends together forever. Little did she know that the “star” was a creature from another world.

Unfortunately, other creatures known as the “Scurvy Sea Dogs” were after the cute world-hopping monkey known as “Riki”. A swimsuit wearing, wolf-like girl known as Sazera had almost torched the pair with her fiery pistol before Riki had Momo transform into a superhero known as “Princess Pomelo: Heir of Pure Magic” while shouting the phrase “Crown Accession”. Momo soon drove the flaming attacker away with her shimmering, and powerful, magical abilities.

The Heirs of the Citrine Hearts

Over time, Momo and her two best friends, Elena and May, learned that Riki was keeping eight powerful objects known as the “Citrine Hearts” safe from the otherworldly pirates and that Momo now possessed the Pink Citrine Heart. Fortunately, more heirs would be chosen by Riki in the coming weeks, often coinciding with disastrous events held, or sponsored, by a company known as “Prima Corp”.

The second Heir was Lu Verity, the stern 9th-grade representative, who had become “Princess Lemon: Heir of Sunlight”. She had gained her powers after thwarting the attempts of First Mate Margarita, a telepathic temptress, keen on absorbing the nightmares of unconscious students during a botched standardized test sponsored by Prima Corp.

The third Heir was Kamila Silva, champion tennis player, and Lu’s good friend, who had become “Princess Lime: Heir of Wind”. After gaining the Green Citrine Heart, she had stopped Sazera from causing a riot and burning down a sport’s complex during a Prima Corp-sponsored tournament.

The fourth Heir was Cara Lee, social media influencer, singer, and Momo’s former best friend, who had become “Princess Orange: Heir of Earth”. Cara had earned her Orange Citrine Heart after fending off a berserk scurvy sea dog known as “Sangria” who had disguised herself as a rock musician known as “Red Ria” during a Prima Corp-sponsored singing competition. After driving off the stage destroyer, Cara returned her Citrine Heart medallion to Riki, choosing to focus on her social media career.

Elena, after having seen her former friend, Cara, reject the privilege of being a magical superhero, decided to prove her worth and stop the Scurvy Sea Dog’s next attempt to gather more negative emotions. Luckily for her, after stopping a heated mayoral debate from escalating into violence by pulling a fire alarm, and then  saving Princes Pomelo and Lime from being frozen to death by the trickster imp “Snowball”, Elena had received the Vermillion Citrine Heart medallion. Thus, she became the 5th Heir, “Princess Tangerine; Heir of Fire”.

After weeks of fighting and gathering allies, the five Heirs finally united when Cara saved her sister May’s life after Sazera had set a social media influencer meetup ablaze. Now surrounded by both old and new friends, Momo had thought this magical adventure was her destiny. However, Momo’s happiness soon grew to despair after a heated battle at Prima Corp left both a friend and enemy dead.

A Costly Mistake

Princess Tangerine had suggested they infiltrate Prima Corp HQ to learn more about their enemy. Unbeknownst to the Heirs, they had fallen into Snowball’s trap and were transported into an icy mirror maze, where Momo fought a taunting mirror doppelgänger while the others fought the four crewmen of the Scurvy Sea Dogs. After destroying the maze by refusing to give in to her self-doubt and fear, Pomelo witnessed Princess Tangerine burn Sazera to ash during a fiery exchange. However, Princess Tangerine was then engulfed by a torrent of water, leaving behind nothing but her Vermillion Citrine Heart. Captain Cosmo, the leader of the Scurvy Sea Dogs, had appeared and enacted his revenge on Tangerine for killing his beloved daughter.

Acting on both instinct and grief, Princess Orange had lunged for her fallen friend’s Citrine Heart. Shockingly, after clutching the medallion to her chest, the two Citrine Hearts merged, and Princess Orange underwent a second transformation, becoming “Princess Blood Orange”. The shockwaves and sweltering heat that erupted from the new Heir collapsed the first floor of Prima Corp HQ, causing both factions to flee from the crumbling building.

After relocating to Prima Tower, the four Scurvy Sea Dogs used their collected negative emotions to open a portal to another world, allowing for three new crew members, Caipirinha, Martini, and Wolfy, to arrive on earth.

Meanwhile, having lost her two closest childhood friends, Momo sunk deep into depression. Her doppelgänger from the mirror maze had been right, their childish plan to invade Prima Corp had gotten Elena killed.

The Two New Heirs

Looking to cheer up Momo, Lu had invited her to the horse races to watch Stellar, her twin brother Leo’s horse, compete. However, due to a false start injuring numerous horses, and the appearance of the new scurvy sea dog Caipirinha, a mist of black negative energy began to form in the chaos. Luckily, Riki’s ruby reacted when Leo stepped between it, and Cairpinha’s blade, producing the Chartreuse Citrine Heart. Leo, now the 6th “Prince Citron; Heir of Lightning”, drove the scurvy sea dog threat away with the help of  Princes Lemon, and Princess Pomelo.

After a few other altercations with the scurvy sea dogs, and the help of Lemon, Lime, and Citron, Momo began to regain confidence in her abilities as Princess Pomelo.

Finally ready to find Cara, Momo learned from May that Cara had signed with a talent agency, and left home to become a full-time singer. The heirs decided to confront their former member and return her to their side. However, they didn’t realize how mentally unstable Cara had become. Cara’s first live performance had quickly ended when the band’s guitarist and violinist transformed into Sangria, and the new Scurvy Sea Dog, “Martini”. In anger, Cara transformed into Princess Blood Orange, and a battle of lava, blood, and wind ensued.

Seeing the entire venue being destroyed by her sister’s actions, May grabbed her sister and begged her to stop, which caused Riki’s Ruby to react, producing the Amber Citrine Heart. This allowed May to transform into “Princess Clementine; Heir of Bloom”. Using her ability “Brilliant Bloom” May’s vines and flowers stabilized the collapsing building. However, before the heirs could confront Cara, Captain Cosmo, and a small wolf-creature, Wolfy, appeared, capturing Cara and Riki, and then disappearing in a torrent of water.

The Final Battle

After receiving an extreme weather report on their phones, the power going out across New Haven, and seeing a dark vortex form atop the Prima Tower, the heirs knew the Scurvy Sea Dogs were enacting their evil plans. With no way to climb the tower, Princess Pomelo and Lime used their magic and wind abilities to fly the five heirs to the roof of the observation deck. Now miles above ground, the Heirs could see the scurvy sea dogs conjuring a new moon from within the vortex. The pirate crew sang of “releasing the sealed goddess Antha”. Meanwhile, both Riki and Princess Blood Orange were bound and unconscious, in the centre of the ritual.

Interrupting the evil rites, the heirs wasted no time attacking their foes. However, the five heirs were quickly overpowered by Captain Cosmo’s might alone. Desperate, Princess Pomelo yelled for her two bound friends to wake up, which activated her crown, releasing an intense beam of white light, freeing them. Surprisingly, Pomelo’s beam also separated the Vermillion Citrine Heart from Blood Orange, causing not only Princess Tangerine to materialize but Sazera as well. Amidst the revivals, Cara also reverted to Princess Orange. Joyously reuniting with their friends, the seven Heirs used their combined powers to release a multicoloured wave of light at the Scurvy Sea Dogs, banishing them through the vortex and sealing the ritual.

As the heirs celebrated their victory, Riki’s gem reacted, producing the Red Citrine Heart. This act allowed Riki to regain his lost memories while also transforming him into his human form, “Prince Ricard Von Jibril of Paradisi”. However, Wolfy, having dodged the rainbow wave through teleportation, stole the 8th Citrine Heart, and used the residual power of the vortex to follow after his banished comrades. Sazera, now purified, held the unconscious prince, who had reverted to his monkey form, and pleaded for the Heirs to save the world of “Maxima”, from the goddess the Moon Goddess Antha.
